The midsemester slump
Oh well. I am changing it up this week because I needed to revamp my approach. The last 2 weeks I ate no carbs and honestly I think I got depressed. This week few carbs more exercise and maybe I can break through the damn scale.

Spinning may be a waste of my time
Knowledge may be power.
One martini = 230 calories
Spinning full out sweating from my hair heart rate up for 55 minutes burned = 233 calories.
Saturday night I may have had more than one of those martinis and barely made a dent with my workout.
REALLY?? How much does that suck? Wearing this armband is interesting. Running in the park pushing a stroller while Rowan rides a bike burns way more calories than spinning to nowhere.
Nutrition is key and figuring out the best way to fuel my body while keeping my calories to 1200 has been tricky.
Last week there was good news and bad news on the fitness front.
I lost only about 1/2 a pound.
But I also lost 2 inches off my waist.
This week I am eating less and trying to workout more but my legs are fried.

My cheerleaders
So this is the end of my first week on "the program". I am supposed to workout 6 times a week. Three with Michelle and three on my own. I am also supposed to wear this dotfit device that tracks how many calories I burn and I am also supposed to log how much I eat every day. http://www.dotfit.com/program/default.aspx That is the website for the device.
The final DVDs will be one circuit training for 60 minutes and one total cardio. So Sunday mornings we do over 60 minutes of cardio and then twice a week I do the circuit workout. I still have good stamina so I can do the cardio, but the circuit is kicking my butt. I was literally dripping sweat off my nose and elbows last night. Very pretty.
The people motivating me are 1) My friend Michelle 2) My friend Giusy 3) My husband who changed his work schedule so he goes in before the sun gets up so he can be home to watch the kids so I can do class at night 4) my kids 5) this class and 6) the thought of the people watching a DVD with me bouncing around looking good.
Giusy e-mails me how many calories she burned a day. It keeps me inspired and Michelle has known me a long long time so I get yelled at in her class to jump higher, lift more, blast my legs all the time. It helps.
Oh and this week. I worked out 6 times. On average I burned 450-500 calories during each workout. I am eating between 1300-1500 calories a day. No sugar, no white carbs.
The plan is working.

Colorado treated me right
Just a quick update. I was in Colorado for the last 6 days and while I didn't do any proper training besides a few push-up and band work, I lost weight. The altitude and playing in the snow did the trick.
Plans for this week:
Wednesday light run
Thurday Yoga
Friday TRAINING WITH MICHELLE
Saturday step class
Sunday TRAINING WITH MICHELLE

NEW GOAL!!
When my first daughter was about 18 months old my friend Michelle convinced me to do this crazy program. I dieted and trained with her and about 5 others for 8 weeks. At the end of the 8 weeks, I was in an exercise DVD that was the home version of everything we had been doing in the gym. Here's the DVD http://www.breakthrufitness.com/vids/BTF9102.html and here's my before and after from the early stuff http://www.breakthrufitness.com/testimonials.html. Well like one week after I shot the DVD, I got pregnant with my second child. I lost a good amount of that weight but still have like 20 pounds to drop.
A couple days ago Michelle contacted me because she is creating a new program called PEAK 10. It is going to be insane challenge workouts like the Insanity DVD series. I am so not in great shape but she thinks it might be great for people to see me quickly lose that last 20 pounds. So the next 8 weeks will be BRUTAL. Six workouts with trainers every week, an exerspy armband, constant nutrition observation, meeting with a lifecoach and yes I will be in another DVD in 8 weeks.
Wish me luck. A race with Jay would have been easier.

Quick Status update
Yikes. I am supposed to run a 5k in like 3 weeks. I know for most of you not much but guess how many times I ran last week? Zero.
This week I ran yesterday and that has been it, but I figured out a way to do it in the morning that rocks. My kid will ride her bike while I run next to her and she is getting fast so I have to totally run to keep up. Nice to have a training partner.

My motivation for change
I have for the last few months been very serious about changing my diet and eating patterns. I will admit after my second child, I started to lose my motivation for being in excellent shape. Okay shape seemed good enough and I wasn't really near okay actually for a year or so. I had settled into pudgy Mama mode.
My Mom is terminally ill with a degenerative disease. She has Lewy Body Dementia which is a delightful combination of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and schizophrenia. My mother has always been very thin but never exercised and lived on nicotine, caffeine and sugar for most of her life.
I have been watching my strong independent intelligent Mother slip away and at Thanksgiving she was in awful shape. I want to be in the best possible shape that I can be in so that I can be an active Grandmother the type of Grandmother my Mother would love to be but cannot.
This week I have worked out twice but had a massive cheat meal on Sunday night. It was worth it.
My brother has asked other friends to run some races with us. And I am starting to get more and more worried about how sllllooooowwww a runner I am.
